What Is bedpage?
Where the name came from, what the sites actually do, and why there are so many of them.
The short version
bedpage is the name of a family of classified-ad sites launched in 2018 to fill the gap Backpage and Craigslist Personals left behind. The best-known member is bedpage.com, which mirrors Backpage's structure almost exactly: full multi-category classifieds (jobs, real estate, cars, services, community, personals, adult) organized by city, with per-city subdomains like losangeles.bedpage.com and new-york.bedpage.com.
The name is descriptive, not brand-owned. Nobody trademarked "bedpage" and won it, which is why several sites use it at once — bedpage.com, bedpage.co, bedpagex.com, us.bedpage.com, and this site, bedpage.cc. Some are actively maintained. Most are not. bedpage.cc is a US-focused, adult-focused implementation of the same category.
Coverage on the bedpage sites is not limited to the US. The original bedpage.com runs listings across Latin America, the Caribbean, Oceania, and parts of Europe — Costa Rica, Argentina, Guam, Australia, and more. bedpage.cc concentrates on the US market and 200+ American cities.
Timeline: how the bedpage category exists at all
The story is short, and the dates matter.
- March 2018 — Craigslist personals shuts down. Craigslist removes its entire personals section on March 23, 2018, days after SESTA/FOSTA passes Congress. Overnight, the largest free adult classifieds board in the US disappears.
- April 6, 2018 — Backpage is seized. Federal agencies take backpage.com offline. Founders are indicted. The site's roughly 943 city subdomains — the bulk of the US adult classifieds ecosystem — go dark in a single afternoon.
- April–June 2018 — bedpage clones appear. A wave of new domains launches, often reusing scraped Backpage listings and copying the city layout almost exactly. "bedpage" as a name emerges from this wave.
- 2019–2022 — consolidation and churn. Half the original clones go stale, get taken down, or become malware traps. Newer directories (Skip The Games, Listcrawler-style aggregators, bedpage.cc) fill the gap.
- 2024–2026 — bedpage.cc. This site runs the same category with dated listings, no redirect chains, and no SMS wall.
How a bedpage-style directory actually works
The structure is consistent across the whole category. If you understand one bedpage site, you understand all of them.
Cities. The site is organized by city, usually with a subdomain per city on the original bedpage.com (losangeles.bedpage.com, mobile.bedpage.com, new-york.bedpage.com). bedpage.cc uses a flatter URL structure but the model is the same — every listing lives on exactly one city page.
Categories inside a city. The classic bedpage.com layout inherits Backpage's category tree: jobs, real estate, cars & vehicles, services, community, personals, and adult. The adult section itself is split further — female escorts, male escorts, transgender, TS, body rubs, massage, strip clubs, dating, and casual encounters. bedpage.cc concentrates specifically on the adult companionship stream because that is where most bedpage traffic actually goes.
Ads. Each ad is a title, an age, a description, a set of photos, and a contact method (usually a phone number, sometimes an email, sometimes a platform message). The ad is written and uploaded by the poster. It is not vetted.
Dates. This is where sites differ most. A well-run bedpage shows the exact date the ad was posted. A poorly run one hides the date, fakes it, or reposts old ads to make the site look active. Always look for a real timestamp before you contact.
Posting fees. The classic bedpage.com free-posts most categories but has run paid anti-spam fees on some adult sections (a $500 anti-spam charge on some verticals in some regions). bedpage.cc is browse-only for now — the listings shown are aggregated from public sources.
Why bedpage.cc and not one of the other bedpage domains
Honest read: if you type "bedpage" into Google, you'll get 8 to 12 different domains claiming to be the real one. Most are stale scrapes. Some are outright malicious — pop-up chains, forced SMS opt-ins, iframe redirects to gambling sites. Two or three are actively maintained. bedpage.cc is one of those.
What makes this site different from the clone bin:
- Every listing carries a real, visible posting date.
- Clicking a listing opens the listing on bedpage.cc. Not a redirect chain, not an ad network.
- No SMS or phone number required to browse.
- 200+ cities, and every one has active recent posts — we don't spin up filler pages for towns nobody posts in.
- A free account exists for private messaging, not as a paywall around the listings.
